We lost on penalty kicks. The goal tender actually swatted the ball away before it hit the ground or the net, but it had passed the line. We were ahead for a while during the penalty kicks portion, but Sweden caught up. There were no goals scored in regulation. Just needed to convert the 4th or 5th kick. It was funny: The broadcasters soccer-splained that penalty kicks were not simply a “coin flip,” but rather very strategic. Then we were treated to 10 minutes of goaltenders guess-leaping one way or the other. |

USA havent allowed 3 goals in a World Cup game in 20 years and they’ve never failed to medal so I’d say yeah a Swiss ass kicking in the Round of 16 would be historic U.S. women make history again! |

Tremendous effort by USA. Carli Lloyd must just be a hater. Butthurt coach should just get up and tell everyone how great the rest
of the world is, like Pop does when the US loses to France Frank Ntilkina and Eric Fournier are superstars, even though they can't
start for a mediocre team like the Knicks.

They were the favorites, and they lost in the round of 16. That's a fucking disaster. Sure, you can "stand by them" (whatever that means) and continue to root for them, but they don't deserve a WH invite any more than the LSU Iowa Women's Basketball Team did, which is what I was referencing. |

They'd . . . won the previous two with the same "woke" players. If anything, the problem was being overly loyal to those players, instead of turning over the roster. They're the 1964 New York Yankees. But at least those Yankees made it to Game 7 of the WS. |

Another thrill-a-minute barn-burner this morning after Nigeria-England played to a 0-0 tie prior to PKs.
You have to start to wonder if FIFA may start to take notice of what is happening in baseball this year. They overhauled some rules, including tweaking some rules to generate offense and improve the product on the field. Attendance is way up, as a result.
