I think the rest of the world is starting to catch up to the U.S. women. They're still good and will probably win gold, but it's getting harder and harder.
It very much reminds me of the U.S. men's basketball team in the 1990s.

I thought our intensity and quality of possessions improved when Rapinoe came on. She made some head-scratching plays (notably a wasted couple of possessions in extra time when we should have been killing clock) but overall our attacks looked more structured when she was on the field.
I know Smith is the future of the team, but I wasn't impressed with her last night. Lavelle and Rapinoe were the main reasons the U.S. ever threatened at all.
Next opponent is likely to be Sweden, which is poised to deliver a comprehensive beatdown and put the USWNT out of its misery for this cycle.

USA havent allowed 3 goals in a World Cup game in 20 years and they’ve never failed to medal so I’d say yeah a Swiss ass kicking in the Round of 16 would be historic

We lost on penalty kicks. The goal tender actually swatted the ball away before it hit the ground or the net, but it had passed the line. We were ahead for a while during the penalty kicks portion, but Sweden caught up.
There were no goals scored in regulation.
