The party of Reagan is taking heavy losses in California, even in districts that were previously considered safe. They're losing in Orange County. And Jeff Denham, a four-term congressman and Air Force veteran, lost to 32-year-old venture capitalist Josh Harder in the Modesto area (i.e. farm country). In the race near and dear to YankeeFan and pallister and their media-conspiracy-loving hearts, Young Kim (R) still holds a razor-thin margin, but the number crunchers say there are still a ton of ballots uncounted and she probably lost. Therefore, it turns out to be a pretty good move not to have included her on a list of women who made history. Of 53 House seats, the GOP could end up with as few as eight. Also, Democrats regained the two-thirds supermajority in both houses of the legislature, which is essentially a requirement to pass budgets in California. A lifelong Republican takes note.
