Is it bigotry to mock an institution that demonizes you and everyone like you as a horrible, unrepentant sinner who is going to hell? Asking for a friend. You should familiarize yourself with the work that Catholic nuns did during the height of the AIDS crisis you insufferable asshole. Did I say that there aren't nuns who do amazing things, or other Catholics? No, I did not. I'm suggesting you look at it from the perspective of people who have been condemned by the institution, you myopic bigot. |

My take did leave out the institutional failure that led to the Church protecting pedophile priests on a massive scale. I have tremendous respect for genuine Catholics of faith. I have serious problems with the institution that has played such a role in condemning the LGBTQ community. How dare some of them actually mock an institution that has rejected them and branded them as unacceptable! |

What organized religion meets your standards oop ? I never said they don't meet my standards or need to meet them. I don't know of any religion that has a good history of treatment of homosexuals. Judiasm is no better. Muslims are no better. I'm not even entirely comfortable with anybody mocking the faith of others, but that's easy for me to say. I'm not part of that group. I'm just saying that I understand that a group that has been historically mistreated or shunned by a certain institution is not out of line for mocking that institution. It's not my fault that you have a myopic view of the situation that is driven by your lack of empathy for people who are different from you. |
