Nothing "must" get treated and resolved. It MAY help the person be more comfortable with whom he/she is. It may not help the person at all. No one is "forcing" anybody to do anything. It's just another tool in the toolbox. It behooves a certain segment of society with off-the-charts suicide rates to use every tool in the toolbox available to them. Which is why it's more important than ever to remove what seems to be the most effective tool from that box. |

Break down, What is a mental illness? An ailment that can be treated chemically through the brain? An ailment caused not by injury, a virus or infection? Perhaps gender dysphoria meets these criteria? Which is not an indictment of that or any other condition. Its merely cattegorizing? Perhaps ailment is not the right term, but its been agreed the dysphoria requires treatment? What is the goal of the treatment? Its not to “normalize” or “eliminate” the condition, since thats bigotry. So in that way it does not line up with, say, depression. So I dont know Mental illness can be anything that affects cognitive function or emotional regulation. For example, depression is a mental illness. But where we’re getting tripped up is not considering that the root cause, in this case gender dysphoria, is also a mental illness. |

And I certainly don't believe that ALL gender dysphoria cases manifest in exactly the same way any more than ALL COVID cases affect everyone the same.

I am not saying that a person who feels that way should not have the support they need. I am seeing where people like YF are headed and jumping to the end. His posts sound very much like the justifications that have been given for conversion therapy. Being transgender is not a mental illness, but it can create stresses in a person that lead to mental illness. Note that this is why YF keeps referring to it as having gender dysphoria rather than being transgender. |

Nah. I think some “Pride” stuff is silly and performative. We don’t need the CIA telling us how great they are. I think celebrating the “Sisters of Indulgence” is gross. They’re bigots. I think rainbow rocking chairs are fine. If Cracker Barrel’s revenue drops because of them, I will think that’s dumb, but should have been considered by their marketing team. |
