As I recall, at the time that Michael Sam came out, YF was very mad that NFL players were being mean to the National Anthem. Sam was the reigning SEC Player of the Year, and YF kept telling us that there was no reason he should not be an early first-round draft pick, on that basis, rather than the late-round pick he was projected as. YF surmised that this revealed the NFL's actual bigotry.

There's a kid in my son's grade who is on the travel team and was a 13-year-old All-Star last year in Babe Ruth (the team went to the "World Series," for whatever that's worth) who is apparently now openly gay. I've coached him a few times. He was always 10 going on 30.

The story doesn't make that claim or quote Comas saying anything to that effect. I think YankeeFan is having a little fun at his own expense here. There's a lot of lore to keep track of here!

Target, like Bud Light, has managed to upset everyone.

I've coached him a few times. He was always 10 going on 30. I had a childhood friend who eventually came out. And when I learned he did, I could only think "Yes, that tracks in a way that makes sense even to my 5-year-old-self"

The CIA is apparently now being run by a summer sleepaway camp counselor.

Trans kids are, on average, more likely to suffer from depression and other mental disorders. They are more likely to be autistic. USA, with the legwork being done by an advocacy group, highlights three teens who self profess to being happy. And, we’re told that this is the reality for most, and that “narrative” is wrong. This isn’t journalism. The author of the piece doesn’t seem to have asked them any actual questions. It’s just advocacy for something that is deeply troubling. Funny how you keep implying that being transgender is a mental illness, but you lack the guts to own that opinion. What I find amusing is how hard we work at saying, "STOP STIGMATIZING MENTAL ILLNESS!!!!!" . . . and then if you call something a mental illness because you believe that may be the best way to treat the issue, the response is, "HOW DARE YOU!!!!"

Break down, What is a mental illness? An ailment that can be treated chemically through the brain? An ailment caused not by injury, a virus or infection? Perhaps gender dysphoria meets these criteria?
Which is not an indictment of that or any other condition. Its merely cattegorizing?
Perhaps ailment is not the right term, but its been agreed the dysphoria requires treatment? What is the goal of the treatment? Its not to “normalize” or “eliminate” the condition, since thats bigotry. So in that way it does not line up with, say, depression. So I dont know

Labelling it as a mental illness is a way of treating it as something that is illegitimate and must be treated and resolved. It is a way to force people who are transgender be fixed rather than respecting their identities. How do you not know that?

All the bombs we drop during June will be rainbow colored!
Are Airmen required to salute the Pride Flag this month?

Nothing "must" get treated and resolved. It MAY help the person be more comfortable with whom he/she is. It may not help the person at all. No one is "forcing" anybody to do anything.
It's just another tool in the toolbox. It behooves a certain segment of society with off-the-charts suicide rates to use every tool in the toolbox available to them.
