Enough with this Eddie Haskell crap. You've pushed enough people to their breaking point to know exactly what it looks like. If you wanna take this as a "victory" feel free. You can continue to turn this on me all you want, and I understand that as goes a poster, he carries his history with him. That being the case, it is fair to mention that 90 percent of your responses, across all social media, impugn either the speaker or the speaker’s motives. Speaker: Critics seem to be coalescing around the idea that the Stones opening night show in Chicago, in light of Mick’s health problems, deserves a spot in the pantheon of Stones live performances. Robert Drake: Sheltered Chicago guy thinks something in Chicago is the best ever. Shocking! Speaker: It’s bothersome that Deadspin cuts and pastes this extensively. Robert Drake: You’re just still mad they scooped your friends on Manti Te'o. Impugn, impugn, impugn. You may think your ad hominem attacks make you edgy, take-no-prisoners, a “sonofabitch.” You may justify them - and have - by proclaiming that your targets deserve it. All they do, in actuality, are reveal you as insecure, defensive, overly sensitive*, and small, and no amount of lines on your 20-page CV changes that. For two decades, you have had two core go-tos, when you are goaded into one of your little grown-up fits: 1. “Midwesterners are unsophisticated and insular.” This is not uncommon among coastal natives who matriculate to “flyover” country for college or work. I was friendly with everyone on my various beats, but, man, did I hear some version of this a million times. In a discussion, it's unresponsive. 2. “Sports journalists are unsophisticated and stupid.” Is this generally true? I have no idea. But it doesn’t matter. Used by you, it’s always a dodge. Now you can continue to roll out whatever applause lines about me that you want, and I have no doubt they will gain some traction among some minority of posters. We know from the most recent general election that people tend to favor a zinger over substance. I’ve copped to my flaws. I’ve copped to this being a "bad fit." But anyone who wants to exercise any objectivity - and that includes most of the dudes I’ve ever feuded with, because they generally have about as much use for you as they do for me - having read this digression, would realize that in this case: It’s. Fucking. You. * Hacked off about the Alex Morgan bikini photo? Really? Really? There is literally nobody on the Internets who has been more critical of Morgan's attention-whoring than one Robert Drake. You keep a spreadsheet of this stuff, don't you?

Whitman posted a similar set of self-serving exaggerations and lies yesterday before deleting. Maybe this particular Temples pounding, fingers flying over the keyboard, "SOMEONE IS WRONG ON THE INTERNET GOTTA WIN GOTTA WIN GOTTA WIN!!!!" version stays up this time? Dude can't take a loss, and obviously can't just accept a win. The only one who has lost his gourd here and had a series of grown-up fits, repeatedly, is you. There's not a "lie" in my post. It should serve as the cover letter introducing yourself for every job you apply for for the rest of your life - surely at very distant locales!

You keep a spreadsheet of this stuff, don't you? Doesn't everyone? How else are you supposed to win an argument, citing a decade old quote, from another forum, made under a different handle? The deletion of the politics thread really screwed mine up though.

The deletion of the politics thread really screwed mine up though. I've always thought it was brilliant memory, but now I'm leaning toward spreadsheet.

This colossally sucks.
Some of you need to learn to back the fuck off. To be fair, Dick kept wading back in, but this place is going to be a lot less active without him here, and that sucks.
It's only a matter of time before this place starts to more closely resemble the old place.

Good for you, Whitman. Go reinvent. We'll all see you back here, likely within the week, under whatever new name you end up choosing. Seriously, go fuck yourself. He's gone. Shut the fuck up already.

DW is a good guy. I get a kick put of poking at him every once in awhile. The reaction is sometimes out of proportion to the poke, which I suppose is what makes me want to poke.
With him, I always thought it was the inverse of most. People have shitty lives and take it out on the allegedly anonymous online forums available to them. DW seems to have a pretty good life both personally and professionally. It's the actual message boarding that upsets him.
Ultimately this falls under, wherever you go, there you are.
He'll be back.

I feel like the folks behind Forrest Gump when he decides to stop running and goes home.

The debate here is always good, but the need by some on this board and the previous one to make things personal really sucks...
Some people can be overly sensitive, but we all have our tipping point. I experienced at the old place and it really made going there not worth it anymore.
It will suck if this place does that as well.

This thread is kinda embarrassing. I don't know why some of you guys can't let stuff go, to the point where it requires running away. To be fair, I have my issues with some people on this board, and I have no issue with sharing them. But you can dislike people and still discuss things with them.
I mean, I go away for days and weeks at a time on occasion, mostly because I get busy or go on vacation, but this whole nuking the account thing seems more like a vanity display. You can keep your account active and still go away. We can figure out you're taking a break. Nuking the account proves what?
