You know, it’s funny — I’ve been catching up on the Serial podcast and its Bowe Bergdahl season, and I just finished the episode on the political implications of the prisoner exchange. Rightly or wrongly, the Obama administration did some shady and tone deaf stuff to get him home.
The contrast between the reactions to that and our current comedy of dumbshits was glaring. Like, I found myself having forgotten what it was like to have a president who was expected to act like a grownup and be able to see shades of gray and navigate complex situations.

My point wasn’t that presidents sometimes do shady things.
My point was that the reaction to those things used to be more than ¯\_(ツ)_/¯.
Like we once expected a president to act with some sense of honesty, maturity and dignity.

I don't know the answer to this. I know that one reason you told us that we should be adamantly opposed to another candidate who may have came into office with her own charitable foundation was how shady that foundation was, because people were talking. |
