Why does CPD keep talking about looking for a car? Did Smollett say they hopped out of a car? No self-respecting violent gay-basher is going to rely on public transit.

I actually agree with Smollett on that. Yup. No hate in that statement. Pure compassion.

He may have told them they jumped into, or out of, a car, or they might be looking for any signs of life/activity at 2:00AM, on a freezing cold night, in search of any clues, or witnesses.

This person has no idea how journalism works. And she's fucking lecturing everyone on her timeline about it.

I think that there's a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right.

I think that there's a lot of people more concerned about being precisely, factually, and semantically correct than about being morally right. I think that a lot of those people would tell you flat-out, unashamedly, that that's the truth. We're journalists, and we kind of assume the premise that the search for truth trumps most else. That sentiment is not universal.

I think Smollett got dragged into this. I think he was embarrassed and told a fib to someone like a network publicist, who then ran with it to TMZ, and now he can't get out.

Yeah, it sounds like that's basically what happened. His friend/manager is the one who called the police, right? Sounds like Smollett himself was reluctant, according to the police spokesman. The question is what actually did happen. Bad Grindr hook-up? Drug deal?

This woman has an interesting understanding of "staying off Twitter."

Honestly, I'm not much of a Twitter guy at all. Yes, clearly.
