I had very serious anxiety about nuclear war when I was a kid. Yep. And AIDS. Couldn’t quite wrap my head around Reaganomics, though.

I had very serious anxiety about nuclear war when I was a kid. Why didn't your parents hide the possibility from you?!

The idea that actual mental health issues are caused by climate change is insane, its minimizing to the real mental issues kids and all humans face (and their causes) and Al Gore is a fricking grifter whose claims on the matter should be ignored. Wgat is so implausible about it? Brain chemistry and genetics are not influenced by climate change

I had very serious anxiety about nuclear war when I was a kid. Why didn't your parents hide the possibility from you?! Should we still be doing duck and cover, nuclear war drills? And, surely you know there’s been a lot of discussion about active shooter drills for young kids. There is concern that they scare the shit out of them. So, yeah, telling young kids that “the earth is on fire” or that we need to reduce carbon emissions before “it’s too late” may very well be more than unnecessary, but very well could be contributing to the mental health crisis.

Do you have a problem with Christian parents taking them to churches where they might learn about Hell? Maybe churches are all smarter about that now, but I have had friends tell me that scared the piss out of them the first time they learned about it.

Careful! Don't tell small children they will burn themselves if they touch a hot stove! Imagine the anxiety you are causing if you do!

What about stranger danger? Maybe we should stop teaching young children that strangers might harm them! Imagine the stress it causes if a stranger says hello to them!

If you're worried about stressing your kids out, I would strongly suggest you not let them read about the geological history of Yellowstone N.P.

What about stranger danger? Maybe we should stop teaching young children that strangers might harm them! Imagine the stress it causes if a stranger says hello to them! A. Stranger danger is vastly exaggerated. Most people aren't dangerous, and most kids are kidnapped (and abused) by someone they know -- most especially a parent. 2. The way you handle all of life's dangers is the very key here. You can tell kids not to implicitly trust strangers, or touch the stove, without scaring the crap out of them. This gets to the whole point of the claim. Conservatives tell kids to be wary of strangers and not to touch the stove too. Liberals tell kids that adults have failed them, that the world is on fire, and that if we don't change out entire society, immediately, then it will be too late, and the earth will become uninhabitable.

I think you might have missed a prefix there.

LOL I'm not sure which is funnier, the way my very obvious joke went over your head or your desperation to stand by this idiotic theory after the source of your study was exposed as fraudulent. The point that sailed right past you is that we all have to warn our children about dangers in the world. Of course, the key is how we handle it. Your notion that all conservatives do it in a calming, sensitive manner while liberals just scare the shit out of their children is comically stupid. You have spent way too much time listening to hateful idiots who know nothing but demonizing more than half of the population of the United States has infected your thinking. According to you, I'm the perfect example of a liberal. I never spoke to my daughter about climate change until she started bringing it up to me. I have never told my daughter anything that would even imply that the world is on fire and adults have failed her generation. I don't know anyone who talks that way. This deep need to demonize the other political side, however, is something people like you probably will pass on to your children and that is concerning.

The idea that conservatives don’t catastrophize the world around them … that is an interesting idea.
