Is there anything worse than having the support of Joe Biden?
This could have been done 18 months ago, saving lives and money.
But suggesting it then made you a Putin puppet.

And whether Russia gains 8 oblasts or 4 or 2 or zero doesn't make the U.S. or its European allies any less secure.
But we sure have a lot of dead bodies to show for it, so there's that.
On a positive note, our tenant has been instructed to send our rent payments to various animal shelters in Saint Petersburg for the past year and a half.

Problem with this strategy is that it assumes either side is actually willing to negotiate at this point; what’s Putin incentive if he knows support in US and Europe is waning? (Though—putting tinfoil hat on—I also wonder whether some of the public pessimism is a feint to lull Putin into a sense of complacency? I’d put that at a low probability but wouldn’t discount it to 0.)

Even if hadn't returned, the odds are high that he still would've met the same fate via some mysterious poisoning. Putin has damn well proven that his critics don't need to be in Russia to meet his wrath.

Maybe. But going on periodic hunger strikes on top of the typical conditions/neglect of prison life don't bode well for longevity.

Why doesn’t Germany want to help Ukraine?

Why doesn’t Germany want to help Ukraine?
They'd prefer to send the more economical Festiva cruise missiles.

If Hitler was Alabama football --- which sounds about right --- the Tide's third string met the Allies at Normandy.
The first and second strings were retreating in the east.
So Trump was basically correct.

The Allies also kicked the Germans out of North Africa and most of Italy, and defeated Mussolini while also bombing the ever-living crap out of Germany day and night for two years before they put a single boot on the ground in France. Normandy was the final campaign of the war, not the first or second.
But, yeah, the Russians were on their way to Berlin the same as we were. They even got there first and took the city. Trump is not "basically" correct, he's absolutely correct.

Is he lying? Should be support his lies? When did the Ukrainian government say 300K Russians were killed? The number in the story (from US government) says 300K killed or wounded. So comparing apples to pears.
