For kids? The number of people who are trans is very low. And, what adults want to do is fine. But, we should be very careful with kids. Kids are vulnerable. They can get a warped view of the world, and themselves, and it is easy as fuck to make a kid believe something that isn't true. So, while most parents have the best of intentions, and most people, let alone most doctors, are not "out to get our kids" there are some really messed up parents, and some of the folks running these gender clinics, at top children's hospitals, are activists, and they want to "normalize" transitions by transitioning as many people as possible, including autistic and other vulnerable children. I didn't mention kids, but we have a system with guardrails, and despite the bed-wetting moral panic currently happening, all signs point to those guardrails working as intended. Also, "What adults want to do is fine" is going to get you tagged as a groomer by the folks you're promoting on this thread. Link? I think this is not true. The numbers are way up. The numbers are up in liberal enclaves where having a NB or trans kid is looked upon as a positive. (I don't think it's a coincidence when folks like Angelina Jolie, Megan Fox, and our own "Liz" are raising NB and/or trans kids.) Kids with autism, other mental disorders, and kids with mothers with mental disorders are far more likely to be trans vs. kids at large. We've seen instances of doctors giving out mental evaluations like candy for kids who want to begin transition. We've seen kids get hormones on the first visit to a doctor. We've seen surgeons like Sidhbh Gallagher market their services in ways that are grotesque. And, the gender clinics at top children's hospitals have largely been founded by, and are run by, gender theory activists.

Don't put words in my mouth. Use better words. The ones I used and responded to are right there. You're the one who's adding on in all caps.

A really good way to keep posters around is when people accuse personal friends of being pro-child abuse for saying that adult transition should be a normal thing.

In all seriousness, many of the influential people in the LGBT community who are getting unconditional support have no problem exploiting children. As I mentioned, many of these progressive activists, including medical professionals, do not make a distinction between normalizing transitions for adults and normalizing them for children.
That should be up for debate. Especially when extremely vulnerable groups are involved. Instead, to your point about being unfairly accused of things, anyone who dares disagree with the progressive approach is a "bigot."

And to be clear, I do not think anyone here, even oop, is in favor of exploiting children, but it's clear that many people are afraid to even debate the issue for fear of being labeled a bigot. That just emboldens the fringe. I know it works both ways, and I am willing to admit that my CAPS made me sound a little fringey. Want to get lunch soon?

Why would anyone care about being ālabeledā a ābigotā by people they hate and think are raving lunatics? "People they hate," makes you sound like oop, but I'll live with that characterization if you're talking about anyone who exploits/hurts children. I assume you're not a fan. Of course, the issue is that it's not just the lunatics. You certainly know that name-calling has been the modus operandi of liberals for decades. Reagan was killing the homeless and starving the elderly in the '80s! Unless you're saying mainstream liberals are lunatics. In that case, you have a point.

I also care not one little bit what someone who exploits or hurts children thinks of me. Thereās a lot more lunacy and over-the-top ridiculous rhetoric in mainstream politics than you seem to think. It almost always can be safely dismissed as nonsense, unless itās the 1 percent of the time it actually involves a real issue and not hot-button garbage.

There may be problems that are relatively small, and blown out of proportion for political gain -- trans kids, even illegal immigration, to some degree -- but that doesn't mean that they aren't still problems. And, the whole reason why they become a political problem is that when a conservative operative -- say Chris Rufo or Matt Walsh -- say that we should not be performing double mastectomies on autistic, teen girls, the whole universe does not reply by saying, "well, obviously we shouldn't be doing that, and if it's happening, we need to put a stop to it." Instead, the loudest voices in the room say that such a statement will kill trans kids. They say that it would outlaw "life saving" health care. They say that you are an anti-trans bigot. And, folks like oop are such fucking cowards that they will back down to this bullshit, because they want to please the liberal mob. Which makes all liberals look like psychos, who may not be "coming for your kids" but they also will stand aside for the few that are actually coming for your kids. This whole stupid issue could go away tomorrow if common sense took hold.

I even alluded to it a couple posts ago. And again, I think the gap between a lunatic liberal and the average liberal is closer than you seem to think. Closer than the corresponding gap on the other side, IMO. As for real issues, what do you think about Rachel Levine, not your average Twitter rando, refusing to answer whether transitioning a small child was inappropriate? Do you think the belief is that it is appropriate, or that the refusal is to avoid not angering the "community" and its knee-jerk supporters? Either option is fucked up.

I think itās a very personal decision between parents and their children and their care team and there should be little to no involvement from the federal government. Reserve the right to reconsider if it ever became as rampant as, say, abortion. Which is extremely unlikely. And re-evaluation of oneās opinions is good, not a weakness.

The thing is, the most radical liberals are already in high government positions. This is largely untrue on the far right. And, the few wacko republicans can't get shit done within their own party. Radical leftists only get stopped by the courts or by republican lawmakers.
