No one would have complained about a standard Pride celebration.
But giving these anti-Catholic bigots an award, and then treating everyone who objects as being anti-LGBTQ+ is a recipe for disaster.

My brother told us a funny little story this weekend.
He was at a bar a week or two ago, and a woman ordered a martini and a beer from the trans-gender bartender. Shortly after, her husband re-joined her at the bar.
The bartender puts the martini in front of the wife and the beer in front of the husband. As soon as the bartender turns her back, the wife switches the drinks around.
My brother: "See! Even trans-gender people can fall victim to gender-based stereotypes!"

Trans kids are, on average, more likely to suffer from depression and other mental disorders.
They are more likely to be autistic.
USA, with the legwork being done by an advocacy group, highlights three teens who self profess to being happy.
And, we’re told that this is the reality for most, and that “narrative” is wrong.
This isn’t journalism. The author of the piece doesn’t seem to have asked them any actual questions.
It’s just advocacy for something that is deeply troubling.

I think supporting affirming counseling/therapy while cautioning on surgery IS in fact pumping the brakes.
And I think that’s where most of America. Most Americans want their fellow citizens to be happy, live/let live, but if you say “hmm maybe not” to 1% of 1% of what the advocates want they scream TERF at you and you’re some kind of bigot
