So let's get to the actual question: If the France men's team had beaten (draw name out of a hat) Panama 13-0 and celebrated each goal like it was 1-0, would they have received the same or similar criticism?

I think they would. People like to pick stuff like this apart, regardless of gender.

Stories like this remind me of the time we were (in what was a rare occasion) winning a middle-school soccer game something like 7-0. Our coach instructed us to play “keep-away,” leading my friend to begin doing push-ups on the field after a turnover—thereby embarrassing opponent even more than another goal would have—thinking the coach was referring to the drill we’d do in practice where we’d have some punishment if the other side was able to get ball from us. (Our coach was not rustinjice, for the record.)

All baseball needs is a few more bat flips and the kids will fall in love with the game. I know it!
