The thing that makes so many of you despise me, I think, ironically helps make me a pretty decent legal brief writer. I think people - even lawyers - have a tendency not to “close the loop” on their arguments. Well, I like/NEED to close the loop. It’s practically pathological.

Ty hates me, and that’s fine, even though it’s sad to me, because I thought we were buds here. It’s simply not true that I: (1) don’t give an inch on positions. I revise my positions all the time here, or, better stated, my views are deepened, sharpened, enhanced; (2) that I only seek people’s opinions in order to “rip them apart.” Civil debate is interesting to me, and it’s interesting to explore our differences. That’s it.

Anyway, as I said, this place (and the Mothership) are not really the place for the kind of drawn out, discuss-it-until-we-reach-the-center-of-the-Tootsie-Pop discussions I enjoy. I promise I’m a decent enough guy. Love my wife and kids. Loyal to my friends. We just have different ideas about what a message board should be. Please don’t think it makes me a bad person. Like I said, I agree: It’s me. But it’s also you all. Like a divorce, we just don’t really click together.

For the record, I will NEVER revise my position on the band Bush.
