Once again, this isn't a stunt with an objective. This is a neener-neener campaign. Could be both. Where are these immigrants better off, a border town with limited resources or one of the richest communities in America? The decision is always correct when governors make it for them.

I am about as "open borders" a guy as there is, but it is undeniable that immigration policy as pursued and implemented by Democrats has routinely overlooked the damage that policy does to a helluva lot of little people who happen to be in the way (not to mention those poor souls trapped here by that policy). And I'm skeptical this has been a sin of omission, given that those little people happen to reside in places that many (most?) Democrats think deserve such damage. To paraphrase George Will, it's not unrealistic to think those little people might see things differently from those "whose closest contacts with Hispanics are with fine men and women who trim their lawns and put plates in front of them at restaurants, not with illegal immigrants passing through their backyards at 3 a.m." But these stunts aren't providing any sort of solution to the issues you point out. They are stunts of no value, other than to own the libs, which is the greatest value of all, it seems, among Trump conservatives. My closest contacts with "Hispanics" are the friends I grew up with, who were from the first or second generation living in this country, who had tons of family here illegally or trying to get here illegally. These were my friends' mothers, fathers, uncles, nieces, cousins, and grandparents. I'm not sure exactly what led to them being almost universally embraced here. It's just what I've always known. But they are embraced, and they do fill a lot of the jobs others don't want to do, which is valuable to the community. Maybe I live in a fantasy land. I just wish our stance across the country was more geared to embracing these people, instead of sending them off to places because it's funny to rub it in liberals' faces. One might reasonably argue that the policy to which I referred is merely a stunt that's had staying power.

Hold on a second. The governor of Florida flew these people from Texas to Massachusetts?

It's a fine result, and formulating a plan like this would be fine. The reason it stinks is that Desantis is treating human beings as if they are trash that his neighbor dropped in his cans. And you and he both know this. Maybe you're right, but I don't know how they're (DeSantis & Abbott) supposed to respond. They're dealing with a problem, that only the federal government can fix. If this is what it takes to turn a spotlight on the issue, and to get the federal government to take action, then maybe the ends do justify the means. And, why aren't they better off in Martha's Vineyard? Should they live under a bridge in Texas or Florida instead? You start by responding to me, and then take a turn ignoring what I wrote.

The Eddie Haskell routine by those defending this stunt is hilarious.

Those border states ought to be damn glad they're allowed to even exist!

Why hasn't YankeeFan continued with the joke yet after the setup?

The Eddie Haskell routine by those defending this stunt is hilarious. Political stunts, like authoritarianism, are only good when your team does them.

The weirdest thing about all of this is that these people, as I understand it, are not illegals, but people claiming asylum and awaiting a hearing. I'm guessing DeSantis doesn't plan on flying them back for their hearings (if they're even in MV anymore when those come up). My understanding is that they're free to travel otherwise.
Why not fly or bus them to where they have family, if that's an option?
