Because it was a stupid stunt by DeSantis to make some kind of statement about immigration. He doesn't care about actually helping the pawns he used. Of course he doesn't. I know this is everyone's new favorite way to own the libs, but putting these vulnerable people on planes and busses so you don't have to deal with them is just so shitty. And, nobody answered me on the other thread about this a little while ago, so I'll ask again... Isn't this, by definition, trafficking? Did he make money off sending them to Martha's Vineyard?

I’ve said this before, but they could send these people to California and nobody would notice or care. They’re sending these people to certain places as a blatant stunt, and pretending it isn’t a stunt. They don’t give a god damn about these people. It’s so odd, as a born-and-raised Southern Californian, that this is such a huge issue in red border states, because it is such a non-issue here, and never really has been, at least not that I can remember. “Illegal immigrants” have always been a part of our communities, and nobody cares. There are a lot here, as well. And, don’t discount the strain that’s already on the facilities that house homeless people. Homelessness is already a HUGE problem here, and gets worse seemingly by the day. These places don’t have enough room or resources to help the people who are already here. I don’t imagine it’s much different in other major cities as we emerge from the pandemic. And it has nothing to do with immigration. Probably doesn't have anything to do with the people running the cities either.

In political capital and cash donations to political campaigns and causes? Absolutely.

Did he make money off sending them to Martha's Vineyard? In political capital and cash donations to political campaigns and causes? Absolutely. So that fits the definition?

He doesn't care about actually helping the pawns he used. NOBODY in big-league politics cares about actually helping the pawns they use.

It's a fine result, and formulating a plan like this would be fine. The reason it stinks is that Desantis is treating human beings as if they are trash that his neighbor dropped in his cans. And you and he both know this.

These places don’t have enough room or resources to help the people who are already here. Unlike, e.g., McAllen, Tx. I don’t doubt there are many areas of the country that don’t have the capacity to deal with this. My point was that D.C. having trouble handling it is not the mic-drop moment some think it is.

Probably doesn't have anything to do with the people running the cities either. So, it’s Glenn Youngkin’s fault?

Martha's Vineyarder: Diversity is our strength! DeSantis: OK, cool ... let me add to your strength! Martha's Vineyarder: Wait, wut?

I'm sure there are some folks on the island saying things like that, but the only actual response posted here from anyone having anything to do with MV just talked about how they were helping them.

People are generally more helpful than politicians.

Because it was a stupid stunt by DeSantis to make some kind of statement about immigration. He doesn't care about actually helping the pawns he used. When did he become a member of BLM? You're too smart to be using oldtony's "I know you are but what am I?" routine. Usually you're like Steve Spurrier, landing shots that hurt because there's an element of truth to them. I truly hope there isn't that much speed off your fastball, to properly mix sports analogies.
