Him or Morgan Freeman, who were born and/or raised about 100 miles apart from each other. Jones moved out of Mississippi when he was 5, a year or two before Freeman was born.

Note: he was not actually, bleeding gums Murphy. He did originate the lead role in “Fences“ on stage. There are a few more perfect role-actor combinations. |
