I will be shocked if Williams is not the pick by the Bears at No. 1. At this point, I'm more intrigued by what they do with the 9th pick.

It's funny: when the Blackhawks had the No. 1 pick, nobody was arguing that they should trade it for a "haul" of picks. Difference between the two sports, I guess.

I don't follow the NHL too closely, but the top pick usually turns out to be pretty good, right? Doesn't seem to be the crapshoot that the NFL is. BTW, when I was up in Chicago recently I got to watch Bedard play for the first time. It could be because the rest of the roster is weak, but he looked like a star.

I also think the top pick being only 18 or 19 years old plays into it - the "window" to build a team around him is a lot longer.

Kid is impressive in drills at 270-plus. I don't care if he doesn't believe in birds, he'd be a great addition to the Bears as an inline TE.

Kyrie Irving has a few fans among this year's top NFL prospects.

I haven't dug too deep into his comments, but I think he was trolling.

Yeah, the “birds aren’t real” thing is a spoof on conspiracy theorists. I assume he was riffing on the Texas Tech kid.

That's a big deal. Let's see if they can keep Baker.

That's a big deal. Let's see if they can keep Baker. You would think now having his two top targets locked up is a point in the Bucs' favor

think most people are betting Fields' ceiling still is a couple levels higher than Jones'. if they're gonna take Williams, would it be crazy to keep Fields and let them battle for No 1?

think most people are betting Fields' ceiling still is a couple levels higher than Jones'. if they're gonna take Williams, would it be crazy to keep Fields and let them battle for No 1? I think that would create an unnecessary distraction. The Bears have to trade him if they go with Williams (they're going with Williams). But everyone knows they are moving on, so the Bears have no leverage right now. The GM publicly said he would try to trade Fields before free agency started IF they decided to move on (they're moving on). But with better FA options like Russ and Kirk out there and a deep quarterback class, no team who might consider Fields needs to be on the Bears' timeline. Bears might have to wait until the second day of the draft to deal him.
