Most dudes not named Jerry Seinfeld would not have gotten a pass for dating a 17-year-old, and buying a house nearby to facilitate the relationship. Plus, the cat ownership is a clear sign of mental health issues.

I can’t wait until this woman’s however many minutes are over with, at this point. It’s annoying, but she seems like a decent, happy, well-adjusted person. We could be, and often are, bombarded with much worse. I have nothing against her personally, but I'm ready for a break. Her fans - which include the 10-year-old who lives in my house and two co-workers (23 and 36) - consider it virtually blasphemy to even float the idea that there are other worthy artists. It's so different from when I grew up, in the '90s, and even the biggest artists on the planet strained to be viewed as not mainstream.

I think I know about five of her songs. Which is four more than I know from Beyonce and five more than I know from Rihanna, Shakira or Lady Gaga.

Let me try this:
Taylor Swift:
“You Belong With Me” (that is the actual really good one) “22” “We Are Never Getting Back Together” “Blank Space” “Love Story” “Our Song” “Anti-Hero” “Lavender Haze” “Bad Blood” “I Knew You Were Trouble” “Shake It Off”
Beyoncé:
The “put a ring on it” song “Crazy in Love”
Lady Gaga “Poker Face” “Bad Romance” “Shallow” “Born This Way” “Just Dance” “Edge of Glory”
Rihanna: The “umbrella” song
Shakira I don’t know any Shakira songs

Shakira I don’t know any Shakira songs You HAVE to know “Hips Don’t Lie.” That song was everywhere back in the day. My ex was a huge Shakira fan, so I’ve heard a ton of her stuff. It’s actually not bad.

There's always a chance I'm familiar with a certain song. But knowing the title and the performer? Not usually.
For example, that Rachel Platten (had to look it up) song "Fight Song." First time I heard it, I figured it was Miley Cyrus. Not that I know any Miley Cyrus songs, but it was a young, squeaky voice talking about "wrecking balls inside my brain." I knew Cyrus had some "Wrecking Ball" song/album, so I put 2 and 2 together. And got 22.

I'm not sure I could name any Taylor Swift songs, but I know I would recognize a bunch, in part because of KIDZ BOP.
I know a ton of KIDZ BOP songs, having no idea who did the original.

My wife loves mostly shitty ‘80s songs, so when she started playing Walk The Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” all the time, I assumed it was from the ‘80s and was wondering how I missed it all this time. Then I looked it up and saw it only came out 10 years ago.
This sounds like it was pulled straight from The Breakfast Club soundtrack:

My waning hipness can almost be tracked to the day when "Z" replaced "S" as the plural letter of choice. About the time they made some movie about a bunch of boys in the neighborhood.

I’m not sure I would classify Taylor Swift as “hip.”

I'm probably misusing the word. I refer to it as being "in touch" with current cultural goings on.

The culture is so fractured these days, there is something I like about there being a unifying superstar. That said, I wish there were a couple more. She’s sucking up all the oxygen in the room.
