It is funny to see people who complained Biden is a failure for not standing up to the Taliban calling him a failure for standing up to Putin. It makes me wonder whether antipathy toward Biden is the issue, here.

Can't speak for anyone else. The US has take stand up on this. Our ignominious withdrawal from Afghanistan is part of the reason Russia chooses now to do make these moves. How this unfolds provides information to China on whether this is the time to move on Taiwan.
I do not advocate joining military actions willy-nilly. At the same, we have to recognize that a muscular US presence on the world stage results in more peace, not less. It results in less need for serious military action, not more.

Thinking it makes sense not to fold that hand and also thinking “lets not start pissing chips into another pot” is a fair position that’s not simply “dems bad”

that Putin was trolling uncle Joe. I don't have a good feeling about Biden's key foreign advisors - Blinken
and Jake Sullivan leading the way. Sullivan is a political hack that had his fingers all over Russiagate.
Add Miley and you have a real clown show. Very disconcerting.

Also funny seeing how many of the same folks who were such tough-talkin hawks on the issue of invading Iraq now sound like devout non-interventionists.

Tom Clancy is rolling over in his grave seeing gutless conservatives not spoiling for a fight against the Russkies.

If you read his feed, he’s not a deep thinker. I know this will be a moment to “own the libs,” but it really isn’t. The U.K. is a representative democracy where we think policies should reflect some general will. Russia is not, so why would Brits protest?

Westerners protest western governments because they’re trying to influence what their own side does. Putin doesn’t give the first flipping shit about the thoughts of hippie kids in Britain, so what would be the point? Everybody on this side already agrees that what he’s doing is bad (well, except maybe BTE).

Lukashenko is also playing with fire with Russian troops in Belarus. Putin doesn’t care much for him, either.

Anybody else getting an Able Archer '83 vibe off of this whole situation?

BT eying cheap real estate in Kiev after the war? I was super impressed with Kiev the only time I was there. But that was 2008, long before the coup knocked it off its rails.
