Because it’s performative and ridiculous. “Performative and ridiculous” seems like a good subhead for this board. I could not imagine how long my days would seem to stretch on without it, though!

It's almost certainly performative, but that doesn't mean it's pointless. Unless we're are saying that gay and lesbian people have already achieved universal acceptance in society and popular culture, stories like this are at least an effort to strive toward that. Mileage may vary.

I mean, we had a lot of, “out and loving it,” threads over the year.
Were those making fun of LGBTQIAA+ people?

I mean, we had a lot of, “out and loving it,” threads over the year. Were those making fun of LGBTQIAA+ people? Good pull. Those usually fell into two categories: 1. Some Z-list celebrity no one had actually heard of; and 2. Some gorgeous Hollywood starlet announcing that she was "bisexual," complete with commentary about her "courage" in doing so.

I mean, we had a lot of, “out and loving it,” threads over the year. Were those making fun of LGBTQIAA+ people? It's a fair criticism. I always thought those were in the spirit of "I have no idea who this person is" or "I thought we already knew that." But they could definitely be received that way.

I always viewed the “Out and Loving It!” threads as making fun of the media.

I always viewed the “Out and Loving It!” threads as making fun of the media. I think that's at least half of YF's criticism of the Velma thing.

I always viewed the “Out and Loving It!” threads as making fun of the media. Correct. And mainly Yahoo!

Yahoo makes Perez Hilton look like The Wall Street Journal.
It takes all my willpower not to comment when a FB friend posts a supposedly serious news story from Yahoo. I'd trust Highlights magazine to provide better context.

What a weird thing to be bothered by. An even weirder thing to celebrate.

An even weirder thing to celebrate. Why? It's not real is the first thing that springs to mind.

JFC. I keep buying new Pride flags, and they keep updating the flag, making my most recent purchase obsolete. First I went out and got the POC inclusive flag: Then I got a Progress Pride Flag: And now they've already changed that! This is incredible. (Look away if you are prone to seizures.)

Are Harry Styles fans problematic? At least they’re buying tickets.
