Joke all you want, motherfuckers. I’ll be safe on a Caribbean island in a week while y’all are dying. I've heard the cocktail flu there can be murder.

I had a roommate in college who always had calzones as a hangover cure. He swore by it. I always preferred a sausage omelet drowned in tabasco.

He swore by it. I always preferred a sausage omelet drowned in tabasco. I always got better when I ate anything tomato-ey (to use a technical term). Always kept V8 around for that reason. One time in high school, I woke up hurting bad and found a bottle of Bloody Mary mix in my parents’ kitchen. However, in my impaired state, I didn’t think to put it in the fridge after I opened it. So that’s how i got caught drinking that time. After college, my roommate was a paramedic and he would always give us IVs. (He was glad to have the practice.) That’s the true miracle cure.

My cousin's son is at Wisconsin and I was at his apartment and they had pedialyte in the refrigerator for hangovers. I thought that was funny. One of my high school classmates has gotten very rich with some drink that you're supposed to have before you go to bed. The slogan is "Hydrate while you celebrate" I had never seen it in the Midwest, but I went to Vegas for work a couple years ago and they had it all over the place.

After college, my roommate was a paramedic and he would always give us IVs. (He was glad to have the practice.) That’s the true miracle cure. I read about some place in NYC a few years ago that specialized in hangover treatment, and the IV was 95% of the cure.

How the fuck do you eat a porcupine? Four out of five dentists recommend it. Don't ask me, though. I drew the line many years ago at pig uterus. I can’t do tripe, and am not a fan of kidney or liver. Ex used to buy chicken hearts. They were ok. Beef heart is much better.

This thread went in a suprisingly lighthearted direction. Threads are like children. You have to let them make their own path.

A couple of storefront IV clinics have opened here, and they’re pitched as hangover cures. And, I shouldn’t know this, but some of the “stars” of reality tv shows have gone to ones in LA.

We’ve got a case in Chicago.
They’re not. Releasing which hospital is treating her. I’m sure they don’t want to cause panic, but should they?

This thread went in a suprisingly lighthearted direction. Agreed. Holding pattern, I’d say.

They reported a case at a Seattle-area hospital on Tuesday. "Nothing to worry about," the hospital spokesperson said.
One of my favorite fiction books from the past decade is "Station Eleven" by Emily St. John Mandel, which begins with a virus originating in Asia that spreads quickly and wipes out the majority of humanity, creating a dystopian world.
I'm trying not to freak out too much.

This virus is getting a lot of attention because it’s new. Like H1N1 was back in 2009.
SARS was a coronavirus too, and after a quick and deadly initial spread, it pretty much faded away.
Of course, there’s no telling what this virus is going to do, but stopping travel during the busiest travel time of the year is a great first step, and doesn’t really signify an emergency. Yet.
