He’s not getting convicted anyway because Senate Republicans are dickless cowards. Sure. All I'm saying is that Republican Senators will likely say that they are voting against conviction based on procedural issues, not based on the merits of the case. And, if that's the case, there's no "good" reason for Trump to put on any defense. It doesn’t really matter why they acquit him. They’ll still have to live with the fact that they let an armed insurrection against this country go unpunished.

I'm not sure I'd go that far, because there are a lot of dipshits who're gonna serve some time. Nevertheless, the dipshit-in-chief's probably gonna skate. It's good to be the king (I suppose) ...

I like how the candidates who lose longshot races seem to be like 15-20 percent "Better candidates than that unwinnable race deserved" and 80-85 percent loons.

I generally agree. I don't think there will be much backlash for the senators who vote against conviction, though I'd like to think that in a sane world Sens. Cruz & Hawley would pay a significant price for their roles in inciting the insurrection. Same goes for a dozen or so members of the House, including our own little Nazi in my neck of the woods. Republican members of congress outside that smaller group will be able to deflect their decisions pretty easily on procedural grounds or on arguments about moving on and their base will be fine with it. I just don't see 17 GOP senators voting to convict. I think best-case we'll see 5, maybe 10.

Yeah, I was specifically referring to Trump, who is unquestionably going to skate with many acquittal votes cast by “Law and Order!” Republicans. And those people should never be taken seriously again. That his base will be fine with it isn’t saying much. His base believes Hillary Clinton is the head of a secret global cabal that molests children and sacrifices them to Satan. They will believe literally anything they’re told to believe.

Does anyone know if witnesses are going to be called?
I thought that was supposed to be announced yesterday, but I haven’t found a yay or nay on that yet.
Thanks.

I don't know how you watch that video and just let it go. If they don't convict... what an embarrassment.

What in the fuck is Castor talking about? YF will be alone soon enough to tell us how it made an iron-clad case for Trump.

I was kinda surprised they would make a freedom-of-speech case, but then I thought, what else could they do?
