Yes, let’s say I stole your IP and owed you $5. Would I have to sell you $5 worth of goods in order to generate the revenue to pay you the $5 I owe you for the stolen IP? Or could I cut my military spending by $5 and use that $5 to pay you for the stolen IP rather than selling you an additional $5 of goods to generate an additional $5 revenue offset? I don't think the analogy (is that what it is?) works, since: A) the trade deficit isn't a country-to-country thing, even though it's calculated as such; and ii) China doesn't fund its military with dollars.

If self-checkout is taken away, I might have to lead a revolt.

It’s like living in the bizarro world. Much like California, having caused a housing crisis in part through all its regulations, now enacting rent control laws that will only further deter people from building... Oy vey.

"Landlords should not be able to simply raise rents to any level they want, any time they want."
Hey Bernie ... there's this thing called a market that prevents them from doing that.

Fewer regulations would also lead to more housing.

What do you do in resort towns that don’t have affordable housing for teachers, hotel workers, restaurant staff, etc? In a lot of cases they bus those hotel workers and restaurant workers in from elsewhere. The teachers thing brings to mind one of the more glorious episodes on the kids table wherein it was bemoaned that teachers in certain Texas high schools can't afford to live in the neighborhoods whence their students come. The example was some teacher in Southlake who was pulling down $50K-ish but was, sadly, priced out of the $450K-ish houses in the area. # anothercapitalismfail #berniewouldfixit

Based on my last union's non-performance, I am thinking about looking into how to file a grievance.
I realize I have as much chance of succeeding as I do drilling for oil and hitting a gusher right outside the window. Nevertheless, damn the torpedoes!

I mean, no one wants to drive 12 miles to work. That's outrageous.

I once lived in a high-class area. My apartment building -- not high-class. I don't know if they had rent control or were just smart enough to realize that not everyone could buy a $400k house.
So I could live there. Affording the restaurants was another story.
