I’m sure Trump would do something equally dumb, but why exactly is Biden calling for an investigation into the acquisition of U.S. Steel by Japanese company? Because that's what dumb dummies do? Also: Can a discount hearing room rate be gotten if we combine this inquisition with those re: Big Sandwich (shudder) being championed by the Distinguished Senator of Color from Massachusetts?

I saw some on the right begging him to do that and figured it was just a dumb stunt. So I guess this is what bipartisanship looks like.

Guy writing about airline consolidations in the Dallas Morning News this morning ... "These too-big-to-fail airlines deliver astonishing returns to their shareholders ..."
They do?
Over the last 10 years, this is how $1,000 invested in the four biggies would have performed:
American Airlines ... $1,000 invested = $595.11 now (-5.05% annual) Delta ... $1,000 invested = $1,689.97 (5.38%) United ... $1,000 invested = $1,134.58 (1.27%) Southwest ... $1,000 invested = $1,701.26 (5.46%)
Had one invested $1,000 in a garden-variety S&P 500 index fund, that investment today would be worth around $3,100.
Not sure the guy knows what "astonishing returns" means.

Yes ... these reflect dividends being re-invested.

Ah, I see the difference—I checked using a 2013 start date (Delta investment would be worth more than $3000 today). Start at 2014 and investment rules more meager.

My dates were arbitrary ... nevertheless ... astonishing returns, not so much.

Why are good investments always treated like such a bad thing anyway? That never made sense to me. I want my investments to make money.

The airline industry just isn't that profitable ... really never has been.

The airline industry just isn't that profitable ... really never has been. As the saying goes: quickest way to become a millionaire? Be a billionaire and buy an airline.

The airline industry just isn't that profitable ... really never has been. Airlines have been good investments from time to time, but they are cyclical. You've really got to time it, which isn't practical for most investors.

Do you think Liz Warren knows what restricts housing supply?

Would also love to see a comparison in the square footage, and amenities, in the typical single-family home of 1983 vs. today.

I think this is the dream urban landscape for Liz Warren and others of her mindset. Although, to her credit, at least she's suggesting there is still a place for single-family homes. Some environmentalists want to do away with those entirely.
