So, they just had good gaydar. As I said, I'm not buying it either. But the idea is that people were out looking to perpetrate a hate crime. If they were, it's likely that they would bring along the tools for that. But I don't think that kind of hate can operate much below freezing. |

He’s also a pretty prominent activist. Interesting. Nothing particularly controversial, from what I can tell. He's active in raising awareness of HIV/AIDS in the black community. |

The area, Streeterville, is not one with gay bars/clubs.
It’s just east of Michigan Ave./ Magnificent Mile. Mix of high end hotels, offices, residential, and Northwestern’s downtown campus, including its massive hospital complex.
He was a block north of the Chicago River, under an elevated roadway, which is where the entrance to the Sheraton and the Loews is. He’d be near the entice to the parking garage.

I know what that activism means in your minds, but it could also mean the “attackers” could’ve recognized or targeted him for something other than being on Empire.
