People, even lefty-ish types, are going to grow weary of her. It's the way of things ... I wonder if she's already in a bit of a pickle. Her most fawning fans want her to weigh in on everything, but her best long play is (IMO) to dig in and build a real base of expertise (and, honestly, she really doesn't know shit ... surely I'm not the only non-loon who thinks that). And every minute spent doing that takes her away from that Twitter button. OK, but what doesn't she know? So far we have covered the $21 trillion faux pas and, I believe, the argument that her 70 percent marginal tax rate would not provide nearly enough cash for her various plans. Are there others? Free college for all is one that sticks out.

Not as sexy as someone who tweets a lot, but maybe kinda important! No one in elected office today is as sexy as AOC. Sad that the Hill dropped their "50 Most Beautiful" after the 2017 list. You'd really see the contrast. You're out of your mind. I wouldn't trust my change jar to Kamala Harris, but my word is she a gorgeous woman.

Seeing as how she purports to be a socialist bent on reordering the allocation of goods and services, that she's fucked up on these very basic things is pretty telling with regards to her broader knowledge.

No no! I’m a happy to have been proven (sort of) wrong here. It’s great also that this thread has educated you to the presence of one of the most conservative senators and someone who will almost certainly run for president eventually and shape the future of the party. Not as sexy as someone who tweets a lot, but maybe kinda important! I'm trying to slowly get informed again, although politics has admittedly taken a backseat for me the last few months. Part of it is Trump fatigue. Part of it is losing a friend over dumb political bullshit. (i.e. gingerly pointing out an reported inaccuracy/mislead the way I do here. Turns out it is greeted even worse in the real world than at SJ Platforms.) Part of it is that it is just a lot more fun for me to work on my Johnny Cash and Tyler Childers playlists, or take my kid to the batting cages, than it is to keep up with every overwhelming nook and cranny of the national political landscape, which I can't really do shit about anyway. Tyler Childers is very good. I like pretty much every song on that album.

Tyler Childers is very good. I like pretty much every song on that album. If you haven't, check out the "Live at Red Barn I and II" live album. My friend said he liked it better, and I was skeptical at first, but I've come around. It has the first version of "Whitehouse Road," but the rest are not on the album. "Charleston Girl" is my favorite song by him and probably my favorite song of the last couple years (other than maybe a couple songs on the most recent Sturgill album). Can't get it out of my head. We saw him in Louisville a couple weeks ago. My friend (same friend) runs a local amphitheater and has some industry connections and scored us third- or fourth-row seats at face. My kids and I are pretty convinced you can occasionally see the back of my head a couple times on someone's cell phone recording of "Charleston Girl" (I think) on YouTube. The only song I don't like on "Purgatory" is "Universal Sound," which doesn't fit stylistically and sounds like a play for a big mainstream hit of some sort.

The one criticism I will make is that he occasionally does a little too much name-checking of things like "drinkin' moonshine" and such, as if to shout, "I'M AUTHENTIC!" Hopefully that will find its way out his lyrics over time as he matures as a lyricist. But his lyrics are otherwise pretty damn good for a 26-year-old.

Thanks for the head's up. Will do. I'm very jealous you got to see him in concert.
Universal Sound definitely sounds like it came from, like, John Mayer.
I can't decide if maybe it isn't just a little bit too poppy, but the following lines in Feathered Indians are so great.
If I'd know she was religious, then I wouldn't have came stoned To the house of such and angel, too fucked up to get back home.

OK, but help me out here: How does she get impressions on the inside of her thigh from his belt buckle after they "tussled through the night"? I have tried and tried and quite understand what he's talking about.

Hey white boys, would AOC approve a threadjack to Tyler Childers? Yeah. If we”re going to change topics, we should still talk about Hispanic politicians, who have come from hard scrabble backgrounds — like Beto.

I have tried and tried and quite understand what he's talking about. My sense (or interpretation) is that he's wearing a belt buckle like the one below, and because she religious, she does not want to have sex, so they are fooling around and dry humping, but he's keeping his pants on (also because he is totally stoned) but still curling up to her; spooning her. When they wake in the morning, his belt buckle has left little indentations on her thigh which reflects a certain level of intimacy but not a sexual one.

Yorktown is not the hood. Parts of The Bronx are not even the hood.
