The criticism is "The president tweeted something unequivocally racist." Nothing anyone else says can undermine it. The tweet is untouchable, hoisted out of reach by its own racism and vileness. Coming from the people who claim Omar's and Tlaib's blatant anti-semitism is "debate about Israeli policies," ... no, not really.

That's not what he said, but you know you can't win the debate admitting that. Of course it was what he said. It was exactly what he said. He told them to go back and fix their countries of origin and then come to
US and tell us all how they did it. If he was being racist why would he welcome
them back?

If a person is born in the United States, what is their country of origin?

There's one thing about this that gnaws at me. My wife can be highly critical of America (though she does acknowledge our postal system kicks ass!). If someone hears her bitching about America and tells this pasty white person to go back to Russia . . . is that "racism"? It would qualify as xenophobia and nationalism, certainly. I also suspect such a statement -- "Take your ass back to Russia!" -- has never happened. My people are Irish (with a bit of Dutch). In the last 50 years, literally no white descendant of Ireland has been told to "go back to Ireland" if you don't like it here. Because the Irish, who once were heavily discriminated against, came to be thought of as part of "real" American society. Sounds about white. Much of this discussion rests on the completely false idea that these women "hate" America, a statement that has zero supporting evidence, but it usually then couched by some rant about Omar and Israel, which (sorry to say) isn't this country so I don't think it fits the point you're making. What it really comes down to is a lot of white Americans feel it's ok for them to criticize America, particularly liberals parts of it (San Francisco is a shithole; Chicago is a warzone, etc), but when black and brown people are critical of parts of America, they are unworthy of this criticism and ought to be shown the door. I guarantee these women love America as much if more than anyone on this board, because instead of bitching and keyboard warrior-ing their way through life, they decided to run for office to help better shape the country they want to live in. Which ... is kind of the whole point of democracy. Other than simply pointing out their own quotes.

"America is far less safe – and the world is far less stable – than when Obama made the decision to put Hillary Clinton in charge of America’s foreign policy. I am certain it is a decision he truly regrets. Her bad instincts and her bad judgment – something pointed out by Bernie Sanders – are what caused many of the disasters unfolding today."

Again willing to play .show me the overt racism in trump statements The next time you disagree with an African American, you should tell them to go back to Africa. Let us know how it goes. It seems like you are implying that African Americans are prone to violence. That on the surface
seems racist to me.

"But Hillary Clinton’s legacy does not have to be America’s legacy. The problems we face now – poverty and violence at home, war and destruction abroad – will last only as long as we continue relying on the same politicians who created them."

"My message is that things have to change – and they have to change right now. Every day I wake up determined to deliver a better life for the people all across this nation that have been neglected, ignored and abandoned."

"Middle-income Americans and businesses will experience profound relief, and taxes will be greatly simplified for everyone. America is one of the highest-taxed nations in the world. Reducing taxes will cause new companies and new jobs to come roaring back into our country. Then we are going to deal with the issue of regulation, one of the greatest job-killers of them all. Excessive regulation is costing our country as much as 2 trillion dollars a year, and we will end it."

Don't forget that Pressley's background is even more damning in this sense than AOC's. Her parents are from Chicago and Ohio. We've seen people make stupid pseudo arguments here that Puerto Rico is somehow not actually part of the United States (the President, actually) but there is really nothing you can say about Pressley that makes are less "American" than Trump other than, I guess, she's black. Even if all four of them hopped off the bus from Caracas last week, it's still an idiotic argument and always has been. Most of us have moved from one town to another in our lives, right? Often, we do so because the town we move to seems preferable to the town we moved from. So I'm to accept everything about Munster, Indiana, unfailingly now? If I don't like an infrastructure decision, I should move back to my hometown? If I don't like this year's school budget, move back to my hometown? Lately, I've been arguing that the backstops at our Little League fields go too far back. Move back to my hometown? For whatever reason, immigrants saw the United States as the best option, a better option than their prior home. They are not compelled, thus, to regard it as Utopia, right? Funny you should mention Caracas, since all of them believe we'd be better off if we were Venezuela.
