I started the “Top Gun” thread intending it to be a recurring thread, but it kind of fell off the radar. Figured I might as well try to resurrect it.
Seems as good a candidate as any.
Best line of any John Hughes movie:
“Should we dance?”
“It wouldn’t be unheard of.”

My "Pretty in Pink" story: A high school girlfriend thought it would be a good idea to have each of us choose one of our favorite movies to watch together. She went first and chose "Pretty in Pink," which was one of the worst movies I'd ever seen to that point. But instead of complaining, when it was my turn next week, I popped in the VHS tape of "2001: A Space Odyssey." We just weren't meant to be ...

That didn't end well.

Hughes hated it so much he remade it with the right ending a year later, so that should tell you something.

It’s “Sixteen Candles” without any of the humor or self-awareness.

I certainly liked it when I was 16, and I have a nostalgic fondness for it uncoupled from any desire to rewatch it.

Agreed. And Mary Stuart Masterson was so cute.

I honestly don't think I've seen it since I saw it in theaters.
I liked 16 Candles. I realize that it has aged horrifically and that sucks, but oh well...

I had the ‘Pretty in Pink’ soundtrack. I know I saw it with someone, but I can’t recall if it was group of friends or one girl or what. Dang, I was so, so high all the time when I was 16. There are giant gaps in my memory.

The title song is pretty good. Whole soundtrack is great. Captures the time, for those who listened to New Wave, perfectly.
