It was good, but bonus points for female director. It also gets bonus points for beating Avatar, which might be one of the most overrated movies of all-time. What was wrong with Avatar? Held my interest for three hours a hell of a lot better than The Irishman did.

I really liked Birdman. It was weird and different. At least no one fucked a fish. Should have been called Birdshit. Your face shoulda been called Birdshit.

I really liked Hurt Locker. Was Zero Dark Thirty that year as well? I remember thinking that was better, but Hurt Locker was a good flick. Zero Dark Thirty was Argo's year. I liked Silver Linings Playbook that year.

What was wrong with Avatar? It was a high-tech remake of a mediocre animated movie from 20 years earlier. Great to look at, though. That’s what technical Oscars are for.

'Birdman' was great.
'The Shape of Water' was great.

Funny. I watch very few movies, especially in the theater, but I saw -- and liked -- both The Hurt Locker and The Artist in theaters. Caught Argo on a flight.

Did he ever drop 82 points in a game? I'm sure the justification will be that he is best known as a "TV" actor. I agree though, you can't leave someone like that out. I never understand how they seem to do that year after year.

I do remember getting high and seeing it in college, only to realize the drugs had me less focused on the majestic effects and more on the trash dialogue and plot.

Take your pick... Moonlight, Shape of Water, Artist... The Artist is probably the worst of the three. Green Book seems like a great choice compared with those three... I even liked King's Speech. I never saw Birdman. Slumdog Millionaire is another one that wasn't bad, but it never made any sense to me that it was nominated, much less won Best Picture. I am not being snarky - if you have seen Moonlight, I don't know how you can say it's within 600 miles of forgettable
