Alright, we’ve had our fun, but shit’s about to get real. www.washingtonpost.com/world/coronavirus-china-live-updates/2020/01/25/0ca57a5e-3ed7-11ea-afe2-090eb37b60b1_story.htmlTOKYO — China's leader Xi Jinping warned Saturday of an "accelerating spread" of the coronavirus, adding to worries about the scope of a health crisis that has claimed at least 42 lives triggered emergency health measures in cities across China.
. . .
●The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed that a second person in the United States has been diagnosed with coronavirus.
●Infections have been confirmed in France, South Korea, Japan, Nepal, Thailand, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, Australia and the United States. We’re mapping the spread here.
In Japan, 400,000 Chinese tourists are expected this week, including many on direct flights from Wuhan, NHK reported, out of 10 million expected to visit the country over the entire year.

And here’s a positively terrifying Twitter feed. It’s 15 or 20 tweets in all.

One of the suspected US cases is at the same hospital where my immunocompromised mother is on one of her not infrequent visits to the ICU. I trust they have their quarantine protocols in place, but it's still adding to my anxiety about her being there.

While wishing for the very best for frantic, his mother and everyone else in their hospital, I feel compelled to say this: Whichever media outlet covers the city shutdowns with the headline “Wuhan Got Them All in Check” will have my eternal admiration.

I've been making Wuhan/Wu Tang jokes like crazy. No worries.

CDC issues Level 3 warning, its highest. Coronavirus prompts CDC to expand travel warning to all of China; top U.S. health official urges Beijing to admit disease experts● A scientific assessment of the spread of the disease, assuming an optimistic 90 percent quarantine, still predicted more than 59,000 infections and 1,500 deaths — twice the toll of the 2002-2003 SARS outbreak.
● The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said on Monday there were no new confirmed cases of coronavirus overnight but that it is investigating 110 people in 26 states.
● In the United States, health officials confirmed five cases of the pneumonia-like illness, while infections also have been confirmed in France, South Korea, Japan, Nepal, Thailand, Cambodia, Singapore, Vietnam, Taiwan, Canada and Sri Lanka.

I'm having trouble not reading about the early stages of the Coronavirus' spread, and thinking of the early chapters of World War Z.

They reported a case at a Seattle-area hospital on Tuesday. "Nothing to worry about," the hospital spokesperson said. One of my favorite fiction books from the past decade is "Station Eleven" by Emily St. John Mandel, which begins with a virus originating in Asia that spreads quickly and wipes out the majority of humanity, creating a dystopian world. I'm trying not to freak out too much. Station Eleven is good. I recommend anyone read it after this dies down. It's getting weirder. "Station Eleven" begins with a shocking celebrity death, which distracts many citizens from the quickly spreading virus.

It seems like this has been out of the news for the last couple days. I'm guessing that has more to do with Kobe than anything else.
So United is only going to bring infected people over here for three more days?
