Pearlman has former SI writer Melissa Ludke on his podcast today. Great stuff about the groundbreaking lawsuit that got women access to baseball locker rooms... You take the bad, you take the good... His podcast is tremendous. If you're in the business, used to be in the business or follow the business, most of the episodes are great. What is a brief synopsis of the KVV exchange that was interesting? I’m not really up to listening to someone who hates my guts, but I’m interested in hearing about it. LOL. He does not hate your guts. He just had to choose between you and his best friend.

Pearlman called KVV out on Twitter over a story. KVV sent a perfectly worded response that put Pearlman in his place and Pearlman invited him on his podcast to talk about it. I don't want to speak for KVV or anyone else, but I agree with YF that he probably doesn't hate you, but I wouldn't be here either if one of my best friends was getting shredded here on a daily basis.

What story was it? I missed that whole exchange, (I don’t have a Twitter account anymore and even when I did, it was pretty much to follow breaking stories I was interested in like Smollett and Kavanaugh.)

I don't remember. They read every side of the exchange on the podcast.
KVV made Pearlman look like an absolute fool. It was damn impressive.

I always have to make this disclaimer: Every interaction I’ve ever had with Pearlman, personally, has been positive. I used to read his blog pretty obsessively when it was mostly about the craft of writing and reporting books rather than shallow political takes and interviews with C-listers.

I used to read his blog pretty obsessively when it was mostly about the craft of writing and reporting books rather than shallow political takes and interviews with C-listers. Same. He interviewed me for three hours for the Favre book. I wrongly assumed he was just looking for background because I had been out of the business for awhile. I was not taking into consideration the Favre-Rodgers angle and I was able to offer insight to it because I had gone to Chico to do a huge feature on Rodgers after he was drafted and was pretty close with him during his first two years in the league when Favre was hazing the shit out of him. I was pretty stunned when I was quoted throughout the Bleacher Report excerpt and throughout the book. I am absolutely thrilled by it because both of my sons have no recollection of my life as a sports writer and when the parents of their friends and their teachers are telling them, "Oh, your dad was quoted in the Favre book..." they were pretty happy/impressed by it. Pearlman sent me a really nice thank you note after the book came out and we've had a handful of friendly brief exchanges on social media since then.

I've always been fascinated by why certain people are great in face-to-face interaction but absolutely insufferable on the internet, particularly Twitter. Pearlman sounds like an extreme example, but there are a ton of people in journalism who are in the same mold.

It's the same reason why writing humor is hard or why an SNL sketch looks good on paper but doesn't translate to TV. Written and spoken communication are really different. I know that's kinda Captain Obvious, but it's just weird to me when someone is so gifted in one area and struggles in the other.

And definitely don't joke about hating when you're just being a sarcastic prick. Those are the worst kind of funniest jokes.

Has Tebow been on his show? I think he's had a couple athletes on, but it's usually sports writers... He's had Gregg Doyel, Mina Kimes, Leigh Montville, Jerry Brewer, Mark Kriegel on all relatively recently...

I guess Tebow qualifies as "media" in a way, but certainly not as a writer.

Yeah, it will probably only happen after Rocker, Mike Ditka and David Wells come on.
